GUM (Graded Unit Magazine) is a multimedia magazine site filled with insight on Media & Communication students' graded units.
The Students
They’ve just completed their final year of study at West College Scotland and will leave with a HND in Media and Communication. Due to COVID-19 the majority could not complete the projects they planned. Instead they have adapted them or are showcasing their previous year's work for GUM. Find out about their next steps after college by meeting them below!

Amy Meiklem
On completion of my HND, I'm still considering how I would like to use it. For now I'll continue in my part-time jobs where my employers can allocate me time to use my design and social media skills for publicity purposes. Also, a huge thank you to everyone for letting me share their work on this site!

Bethany Andrews
I'm off to university! I have a few scripts in development that I might turn into actual projects and my 2020 graded unit project Floodwater, Rising may be made after lockdown ends if I can perfect the script.

Christopher Toner
I am going on to study Journalism at the University of the West of Scotland. The course also enables me to specialise in sports journalism, so I believe it will help me achieve my long-term ambition of being an NFL journalist.



Daniel Bonner
I plan on creating more high-quality content and continuing learn about the industry while studying on City of Glasgow’s BA Television course.

David Welch
I plan to go into university to study sports journalism. I’ve always been passionate about sport and getting the skills to communicate about sport in multimedia formats would be ideal.

Eoghan Warner
My plan after the course, is to continue volunteering for a community radio station, moving into podcasting on perhaps a more permanent basis. Other than that, I aim to get involved in more TV and film industry departments, such as accounting or health and safety.



Gage Morgan
I will be going on to study film at Stirling University and hope to continue making documentaries as well as scripted projects.

Madaleine Gaw
I plan to go on to university and study Media further, eventually graduating into full time employment. I was due to work for Camp America this summer, but following Covid-related cancellation, will be going next year instead.

Ola Olugbore
I am going further to study Media at GCU, work in publishing and focus on creating content through writing.

Ryan Dunphy
I aim to go to uni in 2021 and focus on my filmmaking this year. I plan to develop further my camera skills as a whole, which will enable my to work on content I will be putting out there.

Ryan Montgomery
I will be starting my film degree at the University of Stirling. Also, I'll keep working on the production banner and hopefully turn it into a profitable company. Other than that, I'll be making my own content and aiming for a job in the industry.

Scott Bradley
I'll be going to study Sports Journalism at the University of the West of Scotland. I'm extremely passionate about and have a regular podcast about football. The degree course will help me progress onto the next stage of my career.



Stefana Margarint
I'm going to the University of Stirling where I'll continue my education on film and media. I’d like to thank everyone involved in the making of this graded unit magazine and wish everyone the best of luck in the future!
