Viciu
Stefana Margarint - HND 2019/20
Viciu, which translates to "vice", is a short film that explores gaming addiction. The film focuses on the main character Andrew's reactions, showing how a gaming addicted person behaves. The audience will see how Andrew changes gradually, from being a studious and contemplated person to becoming neurotic and losing his temper. However, it could not yet be filmed due to COVID-19.

About Viciu - by Stefana Margarint

I chose to make this film because I wanted to portray an ugly side of gaming as well as explore different editing techniques and challenge myself. The film features elements such as horror games, unique camera filters and a variety of camera shots & angles that focuses on the character’s behaviour. The lack of films on this topic (gaming disorder) has also influenced me to choose this as my graded unit project.
Although cases of gaming disorder are extremely low, I wish to inform and educate people on this topic, proving that gaming can truly become a vice. Sometimes it can take over your life and intervene with college and work, ruining friendships/relationships. The film is aimed at a younger audience, specifically teenagers who spend too much time playing video games.
